Getting payroll checks two days earlier through Chime is a blessing to millions of Americans. Many people are switching to Chime because of its customer-friendly deposit rules. It’s perfect for people who always run a little low on funds by the end of the month. Especially, employees wait for the day to get the payments two days earlier on their accounts so that they can spend on their essential products and pay the bills on time. Chime’s main draw is that customers don’t have to worry about overdraft fees or monthly maintenance charges. And the app lets users process their funds around the week. But what about getting the funds on the weekend?

It is one of the most asked questions we get from Chime users. There is a loophole that users sometimes get confused about understanding. Since Chime is a mobile application, it works on weekends, but getting funds requires business days. Still confused? Let’s revise the article to get a clear idea of whether Chime deposit on weekends.

Does Chime Take Deposit on weekends?

It’s an online bank, so technically, it’s 24 x 7, but Bancorp backs it, so it observes all banking holidays, even weekends. Only business days (weekdays) are available for Chime direct deposits. Chime only accepts direct deposits Monday through Friday. Chime does not process direct deposit on weekends, so direct deposits are not available on Saturdays and Sundays. Whenever your funds are supposed to arrive in your Chime checking account on the weekend, they typically do so on Monday or the following business day. There’s a schedule for Chime’s customer service too. But, you can log in to your Chime account anytime with Chime’s mobile app or website since it’s an online-only bank.

Do Chime Direct Deposits hit at midnight?

Midnight doesn’t have anything special. As soon as its computers process the payment notification file from the Feds, Chime will deposit your money. You can make early deposits any time, 1-2 days before payday. During the week, your employer can make payday deposits between midnight and 9 AM EST.

It is impossible to predict the exact time the deposit will be posted. A computer batch job may run slowly, or your payment may sit at the end, so Chime cannot guarantee that your payment was received.

Can I receive Chime Direct Deposits on other holidays?

You should already know that Chime cannot process deposits on bank holidays. In addition, you should keep in mind that national holidays are also off for processing deposits. Those off days are:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK Day)- Monday, January 17th
  • Washington’s Birthday/President’s Day- Monday, February 21st
  • Memorial Day- Monday, May 30th
  • Juneteenth National Independence Day- Monday, June 20th (observed)
  • Independence Day- Monday, July 4th
  • Labor Day- Monday, September 5th
  • Indigenous Peoples’ Day- Monday, October 10th
  • Veterans Day- Friday, November 11th
  • Thanksgiving- Thursday, November 24th
  • Christmas Day- December 26th (observed)

There’s a chance they’ll fall on a different date every year. The Federal Reserve https://www.federalreserve.gov/aboutthefed/k8.htm list has the exact dates of these holidays. Weekends and holidays don’t mean you can’t access your Chime account or transfer funds online. It’s just Chime direct deposit that will be delayed if it’s a weekends or a national holiday. Every day should be the same for other banking operations.

How Long Does Chime Direct Deposit Take?

As a general rule, Chime direct deposits show up in your checking account about three days after your employer submits payroll. Most of the time, you’ll get paid 2 days before your actual payday.

Checks for small amounts and government stimulus checks should clear in one business day. It might take up to three business days for larger and personal checks. Your app should tell you how long it will take to deposit the funds when you make the deposit.

You can see Chime’s pending deposits with the app. You can use this to determine when a deposit will hit your account if you expect one. There are some deposits that won’t show up as Chime pending deposits in the app, though. It’s likely that you won’t see a direct deposit from your employer until your bank processes it.

Why is my Chime Direct Deposit Late?

Late direct deposits are normal if they take only a few hours. They post at different times throughout the day. For example, if your payday is Thursday and you normally get an early deposit on Tuesday, your deposit might show up anytime on this day. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know when a deposit will go up.

On the other hand, direct deposits that are a day or more late usually mean your employer sent in their payroll file late. It’s rare for banks and the Federal Reserve to have significant delays. So, keep in mind that payroll problems usually happen to employers.

Does Chime deposit Early?

The best thing about Chime is its ability to complete transactions quickly. Based on how quickly your employer and their bank process things, Chime allows you to receive your direct deposits up to two days early into your checking account. Since Chime does not hold your direct deposit, your money gets into your account faster.

In that case, you will need a Chime checking account to set up direct deposits with your employer. If you have not already done so, below you will find instructions on setting up a Chime direct deposit.

  • Step 1 : The first step to follow is logging into Chime online or via the app.
  • Step 2 : You can locate your Chime checking account and routing number by selecting the “Move Money” option. Alternatively, you can get a pre-filled form sent to you via email, print, or download if you prefer.
  • Step 3 : Provide your employer with your account number, routing number, or a pre-filled form if you have one.
  • Step 4 : Check to make sure you’re receiving your direct deposits on time.

What Time Does Chime Direct Deposit Hit?

Since Chime does not hold your deposits, you will normally receive them earlier. Chime direct deposits usually reach your Chime checking account by 9:00 AM EST on your typical payday. Direct deposits may arrive two days before your paycheck if your employer and bank process things early enough. The first direct deposit you make with your Chime checking account may take a bit longer, but future direct deposits will arrive faster – perhaps up to two days faster.

Below is a list of the days that you can expect to see direct deposits in your Chime checking account:

  • Monday: Deposits hit around 9:00 AM EST on Monday. Usually, they’re there by 9 AM, but they could be earlier.
  • Tuesday: Chime deposits hit around 9:00 AM EST on Wednesday. It’s possible they’ll be there earlier, but you can usually count on them by 9 AM.
